Even though photography, like any other art or business, is extremely competitive, I enjoy collaborating with photographers and very good friends, Annabelle Soucy and Michael Abril. Like me, their images were selected in this year’s Applied Arts Magazine Awards and it’s always an honor to participate in production of other winning material.
Advising Annabelle, when it comes to contests, always leads to interesting discussions, especially when selecting the final images for submission. I always believe her work will be selected, but we don’t always choose the same images. So far she has been doing very well and it’s always a lot of fun working with her and critiquing her work.
It’s always a pleasure to help Michael produce the images he aims for. I admire the natural light and vision in his work. We have very different styles but we are able to appreciate each other’s work very much. We often discuss our differences and learn from them.
Exchanging visions and techniques in photography is always beneficial, even if our work is eventually in competition in front of the same judges. Bravo Annabelle and Michael!
