Summit minus Fahrenheit was mainly shot on top of Ampersand mountain in New York state, just south of Saranac Lake. We needed a snowstorm and planned the trip accordingly. The final image is a composite assembled with different parts of Ampersand mountain and mountains shot in Oregon, similar to Summit minus 3 metres.
For the mountain lovers/hikers, Ampersand has a 3352-foot elevation with a 1775 foot ascent. The first half of the hike is an easy, flat and relatively warm walk (during winter) in the woods. The second half is a totally different experience, as you need to ascend a steep 1300 ft and the temperature drops substantially because of smaller, lesser trees and heavy winds. The round trip is normally short of 5 hours but in the snow it ended up being a good 6 hour trip.
