The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking launched the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline in 2019. Human trafficking knows no boundaries. It takes place in communities large and small across Canada. In Canada, human trafficking is a complex crime that predominantly targets vulnerable populations, particularly young women, indigenous women, and runaway youth. Police-reported data indicates an average of 1.2 human trafficking incidents for every 100,000 people each year
Human trafficking includes sex trafficking, labour trafficking, organ trafficking, forced marriage and forced surrogacy. Human trafficking is widely considered one of the fastest-growing criminal enterprises in the world, generating an estimated $150 billion USD in illegal profits annually.
